Public Invited to Hear Update on Regional Flood Control Efforts

Bexar County and its partners in the Bexar Regional Watershed Management (BRWM), the San Antonio River Authority and the City of San Antonio, is hosting a series of community workshops to provide important information about flood control projects, the new digital floodplain maps and the 10-year, $500 million Bexar County Flood Control Program. The first of seven workshops was held at the Harlandale Civic Center on June 4.

The BRWM was established after the devastating floods of 1998 and 2002 to begin addressing flooding from a regional perspective. The BRWM first met with the community to introduce the regional program in 2007. Since that time, significant progress has been made both with the floodplain maps and the Bexar County Flood Control Program. These meetings will help residents learn more about the important flood control projects and the impact they will have on their daily lives.
